About The Boat Inn

The Original part of the building was probably a farm workers cottage. When the Shropshire Union Canal was constructed the building was extended to become part of the canal system and its function  would appear to be a horse changing post for the Flyboat which was rapid transport of it time.

We (Clare, Robin and Bet) have been here for over nine years and we have tried to create an old style pub with traditional values of friendly atmosphere, good service, excellent home cooked food (we are renowned for our selection of Homemade Pies and Fresh Cod & Chips) and where customers make there own entertainment by talking to each other.

Therefore there is no Juke Box, Fruit Machine, Pool table or Sky Television only friendly customers, good Beers, Wine (all our wines are the same price either in bottle or glass) and all the other drinks that go with excellent fresh home-cooked food and a cosy atmosphere. On those chilly and cold days that we get, there is also an open fire where you can toast yourself.

You can sit in the bay window or on the warm days use our canal side Patio or Sun-deck and watch the narrowboats glide by or just simply people watch.

There are plenty of walks along the canal, the disused railway line and countryside where you take in the peaceful surrounding.

So if you are looking for a pub tucked away on the edge of a village next to a canal then please come and see us and we will look forward to meeting you.

Clare, Robin, Bet and the Team.
